1: Emirates airline confirmed that they are in talks with Nigerian Government on finding a common ground
The airline spokeswoman spoke to some news outlet in Dubai, that Emirates remains in close dialogue with the relevant regulators and authorities in Nigeria and are fully committed to making progress on a resolution to ensure the continuation and expansion of our operations,” she said.
“Our highest priority continues to be the health and safety of our customers, employees, and the communities we serve both in Nigeria and across our network.”
2: The Chairman of Presidential Taskforce on COVID-19 (PTF) and Secretary to the Government of the Federation Boss Mustapha, the Ministry of Aviation and the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, (NCAA) are expected to meet in Abuja today 22nd March, for the committee routine briefing over UAE and Nigeria flights suspension.
It is advised that all intending travellers should remain calm as effort are being put in place to ensure that flight to both countries resumes.
Its of note that both the UAE and Nigerian government knows the importance of economic activities of both countries.
According to data recently released by UAE’s Ministry of Foreign Trade, UAE’s from 2009 Nigerian has become a very strategic trade partner to the UAE with much export from the UAE to Nigeria. And with Ramadan around the corner and Saudi Arabia is still close for pilgrimage, UAE will be a destination for many Nigerians.
We should be optimistic that the suspension will be lifted soon.
