The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has called off the Under-17 Africa Cup of Nations just five days before it is due to start. The decision was made by an Emergency Committee of the confederation in Morocco.
“The committee was made aware of the constraints faced by some of the participating member associations as well as the hose country”, CAF revealed. Some of these constraints include the Covid-19 pandemic and the challenges for the organization of international sporting events. In addition, the increased restrictions on international travel and the uncertainty around the situation.
Some of the teams that had qualified had already arrived in the country including Uganda, Tanzania, and Ivory Coast.
