Rapper, Marshall Bruce Mathers III with the stage name Eminem apologizes to singer Rihanna on his new studio album “Music to Be Murdered By” in a track titled ‘Zeus’.
In 2019, an unreleased track was leaked in which Eminem was heard saying, “Of course I side with Chris Brown / I’d beat a b**** down too.” This was a reference to the 2009 felony assault Chris Brown, then-boyfriend of Rihanna, pleaded guilty to. Chris Brown was sentenced to five years of probation and community service.
This came as a surprise to many as Eminem and Rihanna are regarded as friends. They have worked together on many projects, especially on their song, “Love the Way You Lie” which earned them the No. 1 spot on the Billboard rap singles chart in 2010. They were also tour mates after completing their Monster tour in 2014.
The lyric on ‘Zeus’ reads thus: “But, me, long as I re-promise to be honest / And wholeheartedly, apologies, Rihanna,” he raps. “For that song that leaked, I’m sorry, Ri / It wasn’t meant to cause you grief. Regardless, it was wrong of me.”
The rapper also addressed several other issues like the corona virus pandemic, Black Lives Matter in his album. He also made mention of convicted sex offenders Harvey Weinstein, Bill Cosby and R. Kelly.
